Welcome!
Bem-vinda/o!
I am Alessandra Beber Castilho, International Relations scholar and professor. Glad to see you here and I hope we can connect.
About me
I hold a PhD in International Relations from the Joint PhD program between the University of São Paulo and King’s College London, and wrote a dissertation about how Brazilian diplomacy was used to ensure foreign support towards the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964 - 1985).
Currently, I work as Adjunct Professor at the Pontifical University of São Paulo (PUC - SP). I am also a member of the Cold War Research Group, part of the Laboratory for Studies on Brazil and the World System (Labmundi, IRI/FFLCH-USP) and the Support Center for Culture and Extension Activities – National Truth Commission Brazil (NACE-CNV USP).
My research interests are Brazilian Foreign Policy, Foreign Policy Analysis, Diplomatic History, Cold War History and the transnational history of the far right movement in Brazil and Latin America.
I live in São Paulo and, besides my academic work, my hobbies and interests are practicing yoga, doing crosswords, photographing, jogging, journaling, reading, travelling and walking around with my dog, Fanta (which, despite her name, is the most beautiful black coated stray dog there is).
